Make sure you book in advance. Our reservation as 17:00, and by the time it hit 17:30 there were no tables to be had in the place.
They have lots of smaller rooms within the place.
Ideal for groups, for sure!
We were fortunate enough to be seated near the window with a view of 101.
Just incase you didn’t know where Singapore was ^
Putien’s Menu
Starters Platter
$298
4 of Putien’s signature dishes, in starter form. Something to keep in mind for when you are ordering: 1 of these orders between 4 is probably the ideal number. Unfortunately, we split just one of these between 8 of us and it just wasn’t quite enough, even for a starter.
Seaweed with mini shrimp, braised bean curd, cold pigs trotter jelly (sounds disgusting, right?), and braised pig intestines. They were nice little tasters, but they didn’t have us screaming out to order the main dishes…
Laksa fried water lotus shoots
$220
Tasty veggies. I’d say two plates between 8 people would be ideal.
Putien Lor Mee
$200
Expect thick sauce, shrimp, veggies, chicken, and noodles. The noodles are good and the sauce is tasty. But, I can’t help but think it’s just laden with cornstarch for the thick element of the sauce, and it kinda just puts me off a bit…
Golden Cereal Prawn
$490
Sweet, creamy, eggy, spicy, with fried shrimp. Delicious. Give. Me. More.
Bak Kut Teh
$388
Bak Kut Teh is a Singaporean dish using pork ribs, a sack load of garlic, and various spices. Delicious, deep, rich, galicy, porky. Basically just YES in a bowl. Delicious soup.
Stir Fried Taro
$230
Simple, tasty, sweet, earthy. Yeh, it was pretty good, but not amazing.
Braised Tofu with Meat Sauce
$180
Definitely one of the tastier dishes. Spicy and salty braising juices, chewy and delicate tofu and all-round good flavours. Happy.
Crispy skinned whole fried chicken
$580
Garlicy sweetness, crispy skin, succulent meat. Very tasty!
Chilli Crab
$1,468
Whaaaat. Spicy sauce meets meaty crab, soaked up with deep fried steam buns. Get that shell cracker out, and dig in! The sauce is great, the crab is delicious, and you MUST order this.
Deep Fried Durian
$138
Deep fried Durian? Anyone fancy eating perhaps the smelliest fruit in the world? Deep fry it?
Crispy skin, ice cream-like durian on the inside with a sweet stinkiness (strangely tasty).
Custard filled Bun
$98/2 buns
Presentation could be better…
奶星包 that I have had previously have oozed custard creaminess out of the center. This one, however, didn’t. I wouldn’t order this again, gimme a second hit of the Durian, instead!
